1) Lifestyle and Food:
There is no alternative for lifestyle and food habits correction. Eating healthy and nutritious food, regular exercise, yoga, physical activity, outdoor games lead to good physical health. Keeping your body ama-free is the first recommendation. Ama results from improper diet, poor digestion, and inefficient elimination. To eliminate toxins from your diet, avoid stimulants such as alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee. Stay away from fast food, junk food, leftovers, and preservatives. Consume a variety of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, grains, lentils, milk, lassi and fresh cheese such as paneer and ricotta. These fresh and nourishing foods will not only keep your body cleaner but will be easier on your digestive system.

2) Meditation and yoga:
Meditation and yoga is good for taming hormones. It keeps a person physically and mentally healthy.

3) Avoid heavy physical work during menses.
Try to rest for at least one day â you probably do not feel like doing anything anyway. Turn inward and try to avoid things that make you upset or worried. Do something you enjoy. Eat light, warm, preferably liquid foods that pacify Vata. Your digestive fire is weaker during this time, so try not to strain it. Avoid exercise more strenuous than a short walk.

4) Oil Massage
A good oil massage over the body keeps Vata in balance.

5) Phalagrita:
Phala Ghrita is prepared by using cow milk and is extremely useful for many gynecological problems from pregnancy to irregularities with the menstrual cycle.

6) Cumin:
As per Ayurveda, cumin seeds are full of health benefits. Soak two tablespoons of cumin seeds in water and drink that water in the morning. Chew the cumin seeds as well. Drink this every day till you get your period cycle on track.

7) Unripe papaya:
Unripe papaya helps a lot in regulating menstrual flow as it contracts the muscle fibers in the uterus.

8) Cinnamon:
