Premature greying is one of the maladies of modern lifestyle. Those dreaded streaks of silver and white pop up even when you are in your 20s. As far as greying of hair goes, don't open those harmful chemical bottles so soon. Yes, it is possible to get rid of grey hair naturally. Instead of going through several chemical treatments to turn your grey hair into black, we suggest you make use of natural remedies for grey hair to get rid of those pesky greys.
Ayurveda believes that premature greying is a trait of pitta going out of balance. Have a glance at 5 reasons why Pitta dosha can go out of balance.

AYURVEDIC TIPS FOR PREMATURE GREYING
1) And the first step is to learn to eat right. Yes! It does make a difference. Lots of greens, a beet a day, fresh fruits and veggies and lots of yoghurt are what you must eat regularly. Such a diet will not only make your skin smooth and soft but will also result in lustrous long hair.

2) Indian gooseberry (amla) is one of the best home remedies for premature greying. Liberal intake of curry leaves is also considered useful in preventing premature greying of hair.

3) You may regularly take a tablespoon of Chyavanaprasam at bedtime for a few months.
4) Grind equal quantities of sesame seeds, liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), amla, henna (Lawsonia inermis) and lotus root in milk. Applying this on the hair is good to blacken hair and to improve hair growth.

5) Take a teaspoon of Bhringaraja (Eclipta alba), black sesame seeds, and amla powder mixed with milk and sugar for a few months.
6) Include bitter vegetables and ghee in your diet.
7) Curry leaves and oil: Boil a cupful of curry leaves in a cup of oil till they turn black. Cool, strain and store. Massage into hair 2-3 times a week. Leave overnight. Curry leaves are full of Vitamin B and help to restore the pigment melanin in the hair follicles and prevent further greying. It is a rich source of Beta-Keratin and also prevents hair fall. This home remedy for grey hair does more than just prevent pesky greys.

8) Black tea rinse: Boil a cup of water with 2 tbsps. of black tea and a tsp of salt. Cool and apply generously on freshly washed hair. Allow to dry. Repeat regularly to darken grey strands. Black Tea has caffeine which is loaded with antioxidants. While adding a natural dark hue to the hair, it stimulates hair growth and strengthens it giving it a shine. Treating your hair to a black tea rinse will not only help you get rid of grey hair naturally but also leave your hair looking shinier than before.

9) Hibiscus: You can soak the leaves and flowers of the hibiscus in water overnight and then rinse your hair with this water the next morning. The nutrients in hibiscus can help darken your hair. Alternatively, you can also use hibiscus powder as part of your henna mix .

10) Henna: Henna or mehndi is a better hair tonic than permanent dyes and colours. You may mix coffee or tea powder in organic henna powder, along with some lime juice and hot water. Apply the mix on your hair and leave it on for at least an hour.

PUMPKIN SEED BUTTER

Pumpkin seeds are a rich source of magnesium, iron & zinc as well as antioxidants and many other nutrients. They are high in antioxidants – combating damage caused by free radicals with anti-inflammatory properties. Pumpkin seeds are not only excellent for heart & bone health, but they can also lower blood pressure and regulate blood sugar levels, due to the magnesium. Pumpkin seeds also have various anti-cancer properties- particularly stomach, lung and breast cancer. Due to the tryptophan ( an amino acid), Pumpkin seeds have even been shown to improve sleep.

Ingredients
- 3 cups pumpkin seeds, raw and shelled
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1⁄2 Tablespoons maple syrup
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a bowl, toss cinnamon and pumpkin seeds to evenly coat.
3. Place the pumpkin seeds on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
4. Remove from the oven and let it cool down to room temperature.
5. Place the seeds in a blender with butter and blend .
6. Add the pure maple syrup (optional) and continue blending until it becomes smooth.
7. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
